The Spark of an Idea
The idea for the Unicorn Bubble Machine came to our Director of Product Design, Cole Ranze, during a brainstorming session focused on leveling up classic bubble machines. Unicorns are universally loved for their enchanting and magical qualities, and bubbles are a timeless favorite, evoking joy and nostalgia. Combining these two seemed like a natural fit.
His first step was to sketch out ideas, envisioning a bubble blower that could double as a whimsical decoration and a handheld toy. The unicorn design needed to be both functional and visually captivating. Cole began with rough sketches, imagining a unicorn with a flowing mane, a glittering horn, and vibrant colors.
From Paper to Magic
With the initial sketches in hand, we moved to the prototyping phase. We experimented with different materials to ensure durability and ease of use. We also wanted the blower to have two modes: sitting flat and handheld. This required some innovative engineering, but the versatility makes the Unicorn Bubble Machine perfect for magical adventures on the go.
Creating a toy is not just about aesthetics; it’s also about functionality and safety. We tested several prototypes, tweaking the design to ensure it produced a steady stream of bubbles. We experimented with different bubble solutions and blower mechanisms to achieve the best results.
Safety is critical at Move2Play, so we also rigorously tested the Unicorn Bubble Blower to meet all safety standards. We made sure that every edge was smooth, every component secure, and that the toy was easy to use for children of all ages.
Adding the Magic Touch
Once the technical aspects were perfected, it was time to add the magical touches. The unicorn’s horn was adorned with a touch of glitter where the bubble solution can be added. We also gave the unicorn a friendly, smiling face, and made sure the handle was designed to be ergonomic and comfortable for little hands.
